I’m sorry I’m peppering this blog with the past- it’s just so much more memorable than the current state of life. In this cycle of homework, sleeping, eating, and other mundane tasks, old memories seem to randomly float up from some past abyss and stay there.
I have been dreaming of Munich’s transit system, the goodness of Vietnamese food in Stuttgart, and the way the Porsche Car Museum took my breath away. Nostalgia sometimes seems far superior to reality. Instead of drinking chocolate milk in the dining hall, I’m drinking (or attempting to) drink a stein in the Hofbrauhaus, or seeing the ballet at the Stuttgart Opera Haus, or seeing German Expressionism goodness at the Pinakothek der Moderne art museum.
Or better yet, drinking heiße Schokolade (hot chocolate) in various establishments, relishing my luck that they put whipped creme on top.
(I will add more photographs to this post later! The photograph uploader is being quite unfriendly!)
Nice post. You’re right. Sometimes good memories are better than the stress of the present. Cool photos. I am lucky to be going back to Germany soon myself. I like visiting there and I can’t wait for a pretzel and hot chocolate myself!
Merci/Danka for sharing!
I’m with you on this! When sitting and dealing with the ordinary today it’s nice to remember you’ve actually had some quite fun experiences in the past…it’s motivating for the one’s you’ll create in the future!
