The Snow and the Vinter

Winter is here. Snow seems to have somehow permanently found its way onto our campus. I loathe it but can do nothing, so sulking does no good. Instead, I put on boots and layer sweaters. Last Saturday morning, Meghan, Andrea and I woke up to not just snow, but perfect snow. The snow that falls at that rare degree set where it packs perfectly. We donned clothing and proceeded to make snow women and a seal. Meghan and I even donned our snow creations in bras to make sure that people thought they were women. Sadly, they had melted by about 2:00 and we found ourselves gathering the clothing they had worn and shuffling back inside.

  1. Nice shots. I’ve long had a romantic vision of Bozeman, which your photos confirm (and no, I don’t mean the snowladies). I guess it’s the b/w that does it. Thanks!

  2. Winter can be very beautiful if you look for it’s beauty. Even when the thermometer hits -30C or -40C…..there is something magical in it’s power!

  3. I love the winter, and especially the snow, and you captured the beautiful essence of both in your pictures. However, there is a downside… You got me feeling extremely homesick for Colorado. Thanks for the post!

  4. I’m so glad i stumbled upon your blog on freshly pressed. I love your photos and your snowmen and snow women are cute. We had our first real bit’s of snow here in northern Vermont the night before last and it’s really started to feel more like winter. Have a great weekend. 🙂

  5. Just came across your blog through Freshly Pressed and am glad I did! (Congrats, ps!) The snow is just around the corner and, though it is beautiful, I am not looking forward to the chill that will claim residence in my bones for the next few months.

  6. Wow I love snow, but it hasn’t arrived in Denmark yet 😦

Anyways I look forward to the ski holidays in jaunary/february 😀

  7. What I wouldn’t do for snow right about now! ;( we don’t have any yet, and the weather sites and forecasts and so forth.. Is saying no snow at all here, maybe not even for Christmas !

  8. Great photos! I love the snow women! The winter made its presence felt here in Minnesota today too….here we go again – another cold, snowy few months ahead of us! Stay warm!

  9. I’m glad to know I am not the only one to loathe the snow. It’s cold, 18f, that wicked colorless stuff is on the ground. However, I have heat for the house, a jacket to keep warm outside, the Spring to look forward to, and the Chicago Cubs World Championship for 2012. All is good:-)

  10. Nice photos! Here in Jerusalem, we mostly see rain. But on some years, we get two inches of snow, and it’s enough for people to make snow people, men and women. I lived in Canada for 15 long, long winters, so I hate winter under any form. But it’s nice to see snow from the other end of the screen. So thank you for sharing these wonderful photos! 🙂

  11. Very stylish snow ladies and snow seal! I love the snow, but hate the ice – I live in Scotland and we don’t seem to cope very well with either!
